The small big city: Graz at a glance
Graz is the second-largest city in Austria and, as you now know, a very popular educational hub among students. Of the 330,000 people who live there, 50,000 of them study at one of the city’s eight universities. But what’s so special about Graz?
You could say that Graz is a small big city. This has many advantages: the city isn’t overwhelmingly big, everything is within easy reach and it doesn’t take long to find your bearings, yet you still reap all the benefits of living in a city – there’s plenty to do, see and explore!
Graz wouldn’t be Graz without the Mur
In Graz, you’ll often hear people talking about the “two sides of the Mur”. And it’s little wonder why – you can see it with your very own eyes: the River Mur flows right through the middle of the city.
The Mur plays a key role in life in Graz – take the Mur (cycle) paths, for instance. These trails run adjacent to the river and are particularly ideal routes for runners and cyclists. Which side of the Mur do you think you would choose?
