No classes to attend? Why not take a break away from Graz?
While there’s no denying that Attemsgarten, Stadtpark etc. are stunning, there may well be times when you simply feel like getting away from Graz. And you have the best point of departure, with direct trains and buses to Zurich, Munich and Kraków. Graz is so far south that it’s also ideally situated for if you ever want to take a trip to the seaside.
Why look into the distance: local recreation in and around Graz
Don’t fancy going so far afield? There are also plenty of opportunities to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind you for a while and really embrace that holiday feeling in and around Graz.
To the east of the city, for example, a veritable feat of nature awaits you in the form of the Leechwald forest, which directly borders the Hilmteich lake – it’s so peaceful that you’ll soon forget that you’re technically still in the city. But if you’re not the quiet type, the forest is also home to a climbing park. To the west of Graz, Plabutsch offers spectacular views of the city, and if you feel like going on a day trip, why not take the bus to Thalersee, where you can marvel at the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger Museum? And that’s by no means all!
